Reefer Cargo

Refrigerated cargo demands thorough temperature control and continuous risk management. We offer cover based on the Institute Frozen Food Clauses (A), equivalent to the ICC(A) applied specifically to temperature-controlled cargo. Main covers: loss or damage from any external cause except exclusions; refrigeration machinery breakdown; failure of the external power supply; incorrect cooling-system setup (unintentional errors); delay* subject to policy conditions; specific extensions (cargo checks, thermographs, pre-trip inspection requirements, etc.). This policy protects the goods carried with broad cover based on the Institute Cargo Clauses and their equivalents, including specific extensions for complex operations (physical loss/damage; sea/road/air/multimodal; handling, theft, accidents and extraordinary events; general average, wreck removal or reforwarding; open/floating policy or continuous cover; one-off shipments under a single-transit policy; special projects and oversized cargo). How a Managing General Agent works

An MGA operates under delegated authority granted by insurers with which it maintains stable agreements. This allows us to underwrite policies on their behalf, handle claims autonomously, and deliver a more agile, close and technical experience than traditional insurance models.

At Helix Marine we take on that responsibility with a clear approach: we only work with top-tier insurers, with an international rating of A / A+ or higher, and with a vision aligned with our technical and operational model. We seek long-term agreements with insurers: we still work today with the very insurer we started with five years ago.

The partners we work with today have granted us automatic underwriting authority and claims handling and payment, thanks to our proven track record of sound technical judgement, rigorous risk management, portfolio control, impeccable compliance processes, stable and profitable results, and recovery (subrogation) management.
